About North Lanarkshire
Based in the heart of Scotland, North Lanarkshire has a population of around 322,000 and covers one of the largest local council areas in the country.
The central location, excellent transport links and natural scenic beauty ensure that the area is popular with those setting up home, tourists and businesses.
The area covers 47,358 hectares and the main towns are Airdrie, Bellshill, Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Kilsyth, Motherwell and Wishaw.
The average price of houses, including right to buy properties, has risen by 65% in North Lanarkshire over the last 11 years, compared with a 77% increase in Glasgow.
The Future
There are a number of local initiatives taking place to help bring new jobs to North Lanarkshire. Large business parks bring a lot of prosperity and new business to the area especially in the field of new technologies.
There are also plans to help redesign the town centres of North Lanarkshire to reflect the way they are used today, in terms of services and amenities.
