Once the premier thread producing centre in the world, the region is also known for its unique Paisley textiles, which are still in production to this day.

Today Renfrewshire’s main industries are in the manufacturing, retail and service sectors. Construction, transport, health and social work, tourism and hospitality are also major employers along with Glasgow Airport, Scotland’s largest airport, which is situated just outside Paisley.

Transport links with the rest of the country make this an ideal place to do business. In addition to Glasgow Airport and the M8 motorway that crosses Renfrewshire, the area also has rail links with Glasgow and the national network.
