Sport

North Ayrshire has a rich maritime history with plenty of water sports and leisure facilities for the modern visitor.

Cruising and sailing are particularly popular, with marinas at Largs and Ardrossan. In fact, Largs was chosen as the location for Scotland’s first National Sailing Academy.

Golf has been played in the area for over 200 years and you’ll find some of the world’s most famous courses here, including Royal Troon and Turnberry, where the 2004 Open Championship took place.
