The Clydesdale area is famous for its orchards and garden centres. Its history is diverse ranging from the Wars of Independence and mining to the Covenanters and Robert Owen's pioneering village at New Lanark. There is no shortage of things to see and do.
With its rolling, arable farmland the East Kilbride area takes in the new town of East Kilbride, its surrounding villages and the little town of Strathaven. East Kilbride boasts one of Scotland's most successful indoor shopping areas.
Hamilton is also an historic area that is home to Bothwell Castle, Chatelherault and the David Livingstone Centre.
