IAESTE is a global work experience programme, which enables highly motivated foreign students who have much sought-after engineering and technical skills to work with employers throughout the country.
The programme is managed in the UK by The British Council and funded by the UK education departments.
IAESTE UK is part of an international association with members in over 85 countries around the world
Since 1948 IAESTE has been placing high calibre foreign trainees with UK employers for periods of work experience from eight weeks to a year. Previous students have worked on award winning projects, been credited in published academic research and been employed by the company, either in the UK or their home country. Candidates are carefully selected according to employer needs, which can include overseas markets they have an interest in, particular areas of specialisation and the study level of the student.
IAESTE students are ideally placed to work on short or long term projects, to provide support to senior scientists and engineers and bring an international dimension to the workplace.
IAESTE UK takes care of visas, work permits and accommodation, leaving the employer free to get the most from having the student with them.
The employer pays the student a cost of living allowance only, to cover accommodation, food and local travel, and this is on average £200 per week. The service that IAESTE provides, in sourcing the student and taking care of the administration, is completely free.
