Ran An did her first degree in Law but always wanted to study abroad to enrich her life and widen her horizons. She looked to Scotland because although she wanted a cosmopolitan vibrant city she also was attracted by the quiet and beautiful countryside and unique culture.
She was looking for a postgraduate degree in marketing but found that she could combine her love of travel with the highly-respected and renowned MSc in International Tourism Management Napier University in Edinburgh.
She didn't know anyone when she came here but has found it easy to make friends and really enjoyed her course. She found out about the Fresh Talent Working in Scotland Scheme which has enabled her to get a step onto her career in tourism. She now working for a travel agency in Edinburgh as a consultant.
Ran An is very enthusiastic about life in Scotland: "It's a fantastic living environment, quiet, clean, convenient and beautiful. I've been able to enjoy travelling around and discovering Scotland – the Highlands, Glasgow, Stirling and Dundee."
Ran An would like to stay here long term but whatever happens in the future she is very positive about what FTWISS can offer, "It's a very good idea, especially for Asian students who need more working experience from overseas before they go back to their countries to look for work. Living in Scotland is giving me a unique experience for life."
