KK and Ruchi Varma needed a change. Although both were doing well in their engineering careers, with established positions in their respective companies, the opportunity to relocate to Scotland and join PSN was too tempting. It offered a lifestyle better suited to them, as well as career growth.
The couple saw an advertisement in the Jobs section of their local newspaper in India. They were impressed by the way that PSN presented itself. This was a new, independent company but had a strong, well-defined history and impressive portfolio of clients.
They looked at Scotland as a new base for their family and responded to the advertisement. After finding out more about Scotland as a place to relocate to, their decision was made. Within five months KK and Varma were in Aberdeen – the Granite City. The fact that both of them got jobs together, with the same employer, was the ‘icing on the cake’.
Confident of the excellent career opportunities offered by PSN they had many more questions about housing, education, benefit, and lifestyle. "The HR team within PSN were amazing," said Ruchi. "They contacted The Relocation Advisory Service on our behalf ensuring that we had all the information we needed to make the move to Scotland."
KK said, "PSN's culture is truly global, with nearly 8000 people working in five continents."
KK and Varma feel privileged to be a part of it. They have both had opportunities to work with many major blue chip organisations in the oil and gas industry and find the environment and infrastructure of PSN to be very positive and dedicated to growth.
"Aberdeen is a small cosmopolitan city with a big influence in the oil and gas industry. Most of the major players like BP, Exxon Mobil, Shell and Chevron have their offices here," Ruchi agreed.
Despite the large emphasis on industry, they have also been impressed by the beautiful, photogenic landscapes in Grampian.
"The area boasts an impressive population mix from around the world," said KK. "There are restaurants and shops catering to every taste. This diversity and acceptance has helped our seven year old adjust quickly to her new school.
"The great side of being in a small city is that you get to know the place and people quickly – everyone is very warm and friendly. We miss our family and friends at times."
Ruchi agreed adding, "But we are quickly making new friends and looking forward to life Scotland."
