The Skills Shortage Occupation lists for the UK and for Scotland have been published. If you are having trouble recruiting in any occupation listed in either the Scottish or the UK list then it should be possible for you to recruit from overseas.
Stakeholders in Scotland had the opportunity to contribute to Migration Advisory Committee's (MAC) call for evidence for their report on where any skills shortages in Scotland lie. The lists were published in September 2008 with Scotland's exclusive list highlighting very few Scotland-specific skills gaps.
Did you highlight gaps in your business sector?
To ensure an accurate reflection of any skills gap in Scotland, it is vital that stakeholders take the opportunity to do so.
These lists will be reviewed from time to time and stakeholder input is essential to the evidence base on which MAC is working to advise the UK Government. MAC continues to welcome this evidence.
Please take the opportunity to be involved by emailing: MAC@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
