Tier 1 Post Study Work

Tier 1 Post Study Work is points based and the applicant must score 75 points in the following categories:

Qualification (20 points): Higher National Diploma (HND) from a Scottish institution; or undergraduate degree, Master's, PhD, Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Scotland) or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from a UK recognised body.
Institution (20 points): qualification obtained from a UK institution which is on the new Tier 4 sponsors list.
UK experience (20 points): obtained qualification in the UK with Student Leave or as a dependant of someone with valid leave. 
Timing (15 points): the application must be made within 12 months of obtaining the qualification.

The applicant will be deemed to meet an English language requirement as they have studied in the UK.  However they must also show they have enough funds to support themselves -  £800 for an in-country application.

Applying for settlement

A Post Study Work participant cannot apply for settlement but can apply in-country for leave to remain in one of the following immigration work categories:

• Tier 2 Skilled Worker 
• Tier 1 General (formerly Highly Skilled Migrant Programme) 
• Tier 1 Entrepreneur
• Tier 1 Investor

Switch back into student visa?

Those on Post Study Work leave can switch back into a student category visa after their 2 years has expired.
