The table below provides details about Tier 1 Post Study Work. This subsumed the Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme which closed in June 2008.

| Qualifying criteria |
Tier 1 Post Study Work is points based and the applicant must score 75 points in the following categories: Qualification (20 points): Higher National Diploma (HND) from a Scottish institution; or undergraduate degree, Master's, PhD, Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Scotland) or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from a UK recognised body.
The applicant will be deemed to meet an English language requirement as they have studied in the UK. However they must also show they have enough funds to support themselves - £800 for an in-country application. |
| Permitted work | No restrictions on type of work. Applicants can work anywhere in the UK - Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. |

| Duration of leave | Applicants will normally be granted 2 years, which is the maximum period of leave allowed under this scheme. |

Applying for settlement |
A Post Study Work participant cannot apply for settlement but can apply in-country for leave to remain in one of the following immigration work categories:

Switch back into student visa? |
Those on Post Study Work leave can switch back into a student category visa after their 2 years has expired. |
