| Who applies where? |
Applicant applies for visa at British High Commission. An application for leave to remain on the grounds of UK ancestry may only be made in country if the applicant entered in this category. Applicants may not switch into UK Ancestry from other categories once in the UK. |
| Duration of leave | Up to five years. |
| Extending the leave | Up to five years |
| Applying for settlement | Applicant can apply for settlement after five years. |
| Family and dependents | Applicant may bring dependent children under the age of 18 and his or her spouse or long-term partner. |
