Overseas talent will help Production Services Network fuel rapid growth
PSN specialises in providing global support services to oil, gas
and other process industries and has a blue-chip client base including
BP and Shell.
With nearly 8000 staff worldwide and projected turnover of $1 billion this year, the Dyce, Aberdeen-based business is one of Scotland's top ten largest private companies following a $280m management buyout in May 2006 from US giant KBR Halliburton.
Intense activity in the offshore industry is fuelling unprecedented demand for PSN's services and the company is currently seeking to recruit around 200 staff a month in all disciplines and functions to meet this need and sustain its growth.
The company's Scottish onshore workforce currently includes around 40 workers from regions such as India, South Africa and the Middle East in functions including Engineering and Project Controls.
But over the next year PSN anticipates bringing at least 200 workers from overseas to fill offshore roles such as design engineers, project managers, cost estimators and pipe fitters.
HR Director Dean Hunter said: "We will hire hundreds of technical and project based people over the next few months and for these kinds of numbers we need to go to other countries where the skills pool is available.
"This year we have already hired over 500 people across our business and the numbers are not always available in the locality. In terms of skills, our choices are to look overseas or continue trying to retrain people in the UK, but that's not an overnight solution, a combination of both has proven to be a key to success."
