About Aberdeen City

About Aberdeen City

Home to more than 200,000 people, Aberdeen is Scotland’s third largest city and is known as the ‘Oil Capital of Europe’.

It’s also known as the ‘City of Roses’. Around 12,000 different types of roses cover every square inch of Duthie Park’s Rose Hill and the city has won Beautiful Scotland in Bloom awards thirteen times.

Unemployment in Aberdeen is low, consistently under 2%. In fact, a recent survey showed that Aberdeen is the most prosperous city in Britain outside the South East of England.

Union Street, also known as the Granite Mile, runs through the heart of the city centre and is home to over 800 shops, restaurants and bars.

Aberdeen is surrounded by miles of golden beaches. With the mountains so close, you can surf and ski on the same day. Alternatively you could take the Malt Whisky Trail or visit the nearby distilleries?
