About the Highlands and Eilean Siar

The Highlands and Eilean Siar boast some of the most spectacular scenery and natural treasures anywhere in the world.

Despite being what Scotland is world-famous for, this image does not capture the diversity and incredible versatility of this landscape and its people.

In some part of the Highlands, a long history of deforestation (cutting down of trees) has changed the landscape.

Nature has dealt with this challenge by producing unique plants and habitats for wildlife.

Eilean Siar have always have been a haven for those who value the beauty of the elements and inspirational environments.

From welcoming communities to remote areas, this region has a lot to offer and manages to remain distinct whilst moving ahead and keeping in touch with the times.
