Aberdeenshire is well known for its many castles, fishing villages and rivers. From breathtaking mountains to beautiful coastlines, it has a diverse landscape and is rich in natural resources.
Peterhead is the largest town in the region with 17,947 residents, followed by Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Stonehaven, Westhill, Banff and Ellon. The total population of the area is 226,871.
The population is younger than the rest of Scotland, which is partly due to people moving to the area for work.
With the Cairngorms National Park, the popular ski centres of Glenshee and The Lecht and Balmoral Castle in its midst, it’s no wonder this area is visited by 1.6 million tourists a year.
Aberdeenshire’s population is growing, due to employment, business opportunities and the high quality of life.
The future of the area is likely to include provision for more housing, enhanced transport and more opportunities for leisure and shopping, due to high employment and income.
