Fresh Talent: International Students Challenge Fund 2006/2007
As part of the Government's Fresh Talent initiative, applications are now invited for funds from the second round of a Challenge Fund that supports university sponsored activities for international students choosing to study in Scotland.
The Fresh Talent: Supporting International Students Challenge Fund 2006/2007 is open to all higher and further education institutions in Scotland, which are active in international student recruitment. Up to £300,000 will be available for the Fund in the 2006/07 academic session.
The Challenge Fund will support events and activities which are organised for students during, and towards the end of their studies, such as:
- events/activities which bring international students together with domestic students, and others in their local communities, through activities such as host family programmes, and provide opportunities to learn about Scotland and Scottish life;
- receptions/seminars or mentoring/work shadowing schemes which allow international students to meet local employers and agencies, and generally find out about the opportunities open to them following completion of their studies; and
- Programmes/activities which offer students support and guidance on opportunities for further study in Scotland, whether at degree or post-graduate level.
International students are a key target of the Government's Fresh Talent policy, which aims to attract and retain bright, motivated and hard-working people to live, work and study in Scotland to support economic growth.
Applications can be submitted by individual institutions or by an institution which is working with other institutions and partners on a proposal. Application forms are available to download below.
Closing date for bids are requested by 16 June 2006.
